World SBK – Bautista still unstoppable in Thailand

Alvaro Bautista continues his flawless start to the 2019 World Superbike championship by taking a second consecutive hat-trick of race wins, this time at the Chang circuit in Buriram.

Full race two results from Thailand WorldSBK

Alvaro Bautista has continued his perfect start to the 2019 World Superbike championship by taking a second consecutive hat-trick of race wins with a flawless performance in Thailand.

The Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider maintains his 100% wining start to his World Superbike career by giving his rivals zero chance to attack as he stormed ahead from pole position on the opening lap.

Jonathan Rea had Alex Lowes for company for the majority of the race in the fight for second place, with Bautista crossing the line over 10 seconds ahead, as the Pata Yamaha rider completed an identical podium to race one and the sprint race at Buriram.

Michael van der Mark struggled to replicate his Pata Yamaha team-mate’s pace meaning he had to settle for fourth place but won the race-long battle against Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam and GRT Yamaha’s Marco Melandri.

Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Chaz Davies had been involved in the intense fight against van der Mark, Haslam and Melandri before a technical issue forced the Welsh rider to retire on Lap 8.

Sandro Cortese capped a solid race weekend with the GRT Yamaha rookie taking seventh place comfortably in front of Michael Ruben Rinaldi on the Barni Ducati.
