The second round of the Porsche Supercup took us to the narrow streets of Monaco on Monte Carlo’s famous Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. We already know that we are dealing with a narrow trajectory where overtaking is quite difficult to perform and a pole position means consistent chances of a victory.
The first line of the grid was occupied by Michael Ammermüller and Mikkel Pedersen, with reigning champion on pole position. The start was clean and without major incidents, and only a single safety car interrupted the race in the final rounds. From the second place, the Danish youngster has constantly put pressure on Ammermüller, but the experience made all the difference for the German who has successfully defended his leadership position by bringing home his second career victory at Monte Carlo.
Also for the third place there was a beautiful duel between Larry ten Voorde and Florian Latorre, but at the end of the day, they stayed in starting order. At large, I can not say it was a very spectacular race, but we already know that this Grand Prix impresses more from the point of elegance and local opulence. The ranking was completed by Ayhancan Guven in fifth position, Jaap van Lagen in sixth and first round winner Julien Andlauer, only in seventh place.
Ammermüller is ranked first, followed by Guven and Lechner Racing team-mate, Andlauer, descends on three after a rather poor result. Even though we did not have too many overtakes, a small show was provided by the way some 911 GT3 Cup cars negotiated the curbs which resulted in some mini take-offs.
The next stage in the Porsche Supercup is scheduled on the Austrian Red-Bull Ring on June 30, a very fast circuit where we will surely have a race packed with dramatic action.
