Lucas Di Grassi takes pole in Santiago

The third qualifying session of the season seems likely to end up being the most controversial. Although Lucas Di Grassi grabbed himself the fastest lap time of the session, the Brazil international’s pole position start is still uncertain, thanks to the fact that he hindered the remaining drivers in his qualifying group.

Sebastien Buemi came in second in today’s qualifying session in Chile, his time being over half a second slower than the leading Brazilian’s. The qualifying podium was completed by Pascal Wehrlein, the former F1 driver taking part in only his second ever Formula E qualifying session.

The Audi team’s happy day was completed by Daniel Abt. The german ended up fourth and will start the race from the second row.

Stoffel Vandoorne came in fifth, followed by Sam Bird in sixth, Edoardo Mortara (P7), Maximilian Gunther(P8), Alexander Sims(P9) and Felipe Massa completing the top 10. In eleventh Jose Maria Lopez had a disappointing session, as did Jean Eric Vergne (P13), Antonio Felix da Costa (P18), Nelson Piquet (P20) and Jerome d’Ambrosio who came in at P21.

The race will take place today at 9PM CEST.
