Luca Ghiotto appeared in the paddock of the Catalan circuit of Montmelò that hosts the WEC collective tests on Tuesday and Wednesday, defined by the organizers as Prologue for the 2019-2020 season. The Italian driver, currently third in Formula 2, was invited by Ginetta to drive the new LMP1 that the British manufacturer intends to field in the world championship.
The G60-LT-P1 employs a new technical staff after the problems that Ginetta has encountered with the Manor, which in fact has never deployed, in the recently concluded season, the model of the previous car.
Lawrence Tomlinson intends, therefore, to relaunch the Ginetta program with this new LMP1 powered by an AER P60 turbo V6 engine and after tests held before the summer at Alcaniz, it returns with broad and new perspectives.
Impressed by the victory obtained at Silverstone in F2 by Ghiotto, the English manufacturer invited the Italian driver to take part in these collective tests. For Luca, an important new experience in his career as he has always driven single-seaters.
Ghiotto will lead the Ginetta LMP1 on Tuesday and Wednesday while today’s day is dedicated to finding the best seat position and knowing the secrets of the prototype.
