Daniil Kvyat reaches the top spot on Wednesday’s timesheet in Barcelona ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in second.
On his second outing for Toro Rosso in the new STR14, Kvyat achieved a time of 1m17.704 and took spot on Wednesday’s timesheet, also setting the fastest pre-season lap time yet.
The Toro Rosso drivers lap relegated Kimi Raikkonen from the top spot, the Finnish driver ending the day 0.058 seconds slower in the new Alfa Romeo C38. Raikkonen also completed 138 laps on the day.
Daniel Ricciardo was also doing better on his third day, getting the third position for Renault. However, he split track time with Hulkenberg again.
Hulkenberg finished in sixth, his cars DRS having not worked for the duration of the morning testing while the Renault engineers worked hard investigating Daniel’s Tuesday failure. The Australian had the benefit of a functioning DRS system in the afternoon, and completed a total of 90 laps to his P3 finish.
Sebastian Vettel, who had been the fastest on Monday finished the day in P4 for Ferrari. He managed a total of 134 laps in Ferrari’s new SF90. Leclerc will be driving tomorrow and we will only get to see the german driver in the car again next week.
Max Verstappen drove for Red Bull and took P6 with over 100 laps completed as well.
The day didn’t go so well for Haas, the team having been the cause of all three red flags which interrupted running. Pietro Fittipaldi took the new car for a spin in the morning and then Romain Grosjean took over during the afternoon. The french driver’s car came to a halt twice on the circuit, once towards the beginning of testing and again with only a few minutes left on the clock. The reason for his troubles was a loss of hydraulic pressure. Grosjean took P7 on the day, while Fittipaldi took P8.
Mercedes focused on long runs once again and their drivers Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton ended the day in P11 and P12 respectively with Lewis Hamilton noting in an interview that Ferrari look “very very strong”
That about does it for today. Looking forward to seeing you guys back here for tomorrow as well.
