Harder, better, faster, stronger: West Competition Racing celebrates Season 5 achievements

This spring, WCR doubled up the efforts in Racing League Romania powered by BMW and went one better in the standings.

Chapter 1: Harder

The landscape changed dramatically in the past few months, as RLR got a spectacular exposure and moved from 68 to 280 entrants. Fast newcomers made the podiums even sweeter, with Radu Dumitrescu and Alex Cascatău cherishing the opportunities to lead the the race. It may have been hard to secure the place in the Top 30, but the seniors duly complied with a 100% presence in front of the fans in Season 5.

Chapter 2: Better

Season 4 saw WCR align a trio of cars for Cascatău (P5), Dumitrescu (P7) and Mihnea Georgescu (P8). They were all re-signed, but RLR regs forced the move towards 2-car teams. Georgescu thus partnered upcoming star Bogdan Moldovan in the newly-formed WCR Academy, while Cascatău and Dumitrescu kept themselves in the fight for P3 overall. In the end, Cascatău was P5 once again, but Dumitrescu moved up three places compared to the previous campaign. Moldovan rose up to the promise to end in P8, assuring once more a WCR trio in the Top 10.

Chapter 3: Faster

There was a case for impressive adaptability from Dumitrescu following some important hardware changes, while Moldovan made prequalifying seem easy on several occasions, lapping for less than an hour to claim his ticket in the streamed events. WCR claimed one win on Motorpark Romania through Dumitrescu, while Cascatău had the edge on his teammates 5-4 when it comes to podium placings.

Chapter 4: Stronger

Combined, Cascatău and Dumitrescu scored heavily, surpassing East Friendly Racing to become vice-champions with 394 points. The WCR Academy pair of Georgescu and Moldovan claimed P5, while the mid-season partnership with Crama Histria proved a real success. Mihai Neg and Mihnea Hiru teamed up to score a meaningful P6 for the Histria eSports Team.

Both Hiru and Moldovan went as high as P2 in their maiden RLR campaigns.

West Competition Racing would like to congratulate the passionate group of sim racers that represented the team in Season 5 and the partners that made the journey so enjoyable: BMW Romania, Michelin Motorsport, APR Competition, Motul Romania, Crama Histria, PC Coolers, Aqirys, Playseat, Racing Sim, 100% Sport, Telekom Sport and The Car Guys.
