F1: Williams and Renault participation in the first test day is uncertain

Williams and Renault already have problems with their car: participation in the first test day is uncertain.

The 2019 season seems not to have started well for both Rokit Williams Racing and the Renault F1 Team. Several sources confirm that both the British and the French team have problems with the development of the new car.

The new Williams car was presented on Monday, and the 2019 car from Renault saw the light on Tuesday. But both teams are faced with a problem: the development of the car has been delayed, so that the first test day already may be compromised.

Especially Williams has a hard time. The team that ended on the bottom of rankings at the end of last year did not start well in 2019. Among others, the BBC, Autosport and Motorsport.com report that the film day has already been canceled this weekend, because not all parts are ready yet. Renault is in the same situation, but there is still a small chance that the film day next Saturday is met.

Cyril Abiteboul, Renault’s team boss, confirms the rumors: “I have to confess a little secret, we have a movie day on Saturday, but at the moment of speaking it is not certain that it will continue”, according to the Frenchman.

What is even more worrying is the fact that Abiteboul also could not say with certainty whether Renault can test Monday in Barcelona. The Parisian said that they do not yet dare to say that at this moment: “No, at the moment we are not 100% certain.”

UPDATE: Renault F1 did manage to have their filming day at the Catelunya Circuit in Barcelona, Spain. A seperate post can be found on GP24.
