Haas F1 Team
What do I say about Haas? I genuinely don’t know how they are going to do. I like the team and Gunther Steiner is by far the most entertaining of all the team bosses in F1. I think Kevin Magnussen is a phenomenal driver and a great personality. I just don’t think the team will do very well this year.
They have said that 2019 was just a blip in performance and they know where the went wrong, but these blips just put you back year to year in the development game. Effectively they need to do two years development in one year to be as competitive as they were in 2018.
I cannot understand their loyalty to Romain Grosjean. He is fast when the conditions are right for him, but he is also a very sketchy driver when it comes to performances. It can go very wrong and very consistently wrong for him and if I had invested millions of my own money into a race team, I couldn’t keep him on. Steiner has talked about his loyalty to the team when Haas started out but it’s not like he had many options available to him back then either due to his reputation. I praise Haas’s loyalty to him but think he has been given enough chances. I don’t feel he will get many more.
I think K-Mag to win the battle between the two, but I actually see Haas dropping to the back of the field this year to Williams benefit and the team could potentially implode from there. The only prospect I think they have to look forward to is 2021 when the rules change, and the playing field is evened out again.
